Salted Caramel Brownie

Dark chocolate meets salted caramel

American-style brownies – we love these little chocolatey squares on this side of the pond, too. Their chewy mouthfeel in particular makes brownies one of the most popular US exports. And rightly so. Because a brownie recipe like this goes down well with kids and grown-ups alike.

Sweet and salty: the trendy combo

Salted caramel is probably the hottest trend we’ve seen in recent years. Everyone loves caramel – creamy, sweet and so satisfyingly sticky. A hint of salt complements the delicious sweetness to perfection. So, what could be nicer than a salted caramel topping on the classic brownie?

Our Salted Caramel Brownie has a delicious salty-sweet glaze outside and fine, bake-stable chunks of caramel inside. Not only do the caramel chunks keep their shape during baking, they don’t melt, either.

These little treats are so quick and easy to make, they leave every other recipe behind. They even come with their own brownie baking tin!


You’ll also need

For the dough:

  • 100 g butter
  • 1 egg (medium)
  • 80 ml water

For the glaze:

  • 15 ml (approx. 1 tbsp) lukewarm water


  1. First, preheat a conventional oven (top and bottom heat) to approx. 180°C (fan approx. 160°C) and fold the baking tray according to instructions and bend the top of the sides outwards.
  2. Put the butter in a pot, melt and leave to cool slightly. Put the baking mix, egg, liquid butter and water in a mixing bowl and mix briefly using an electric hand mixer (whisk) on the lowest setting first, then on the highest setting for around 3 minutes until creamy.
  3. Then briefly fold the caramel chunks into the dough.
  4. Put the dough in the prepared baking tray, smooth out and bake on the middle shelf of a preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Leave the brownie to cool on a wire rack.
  5. When the brownie has cooled, mix the glaze mixture with water and spread on the brownie using a spoon. Carefully detach the tray with a knife and cut the brownie into pieces.


Baking mix: sugar, wheat flour, fat reduced cocoa powder, thickener xanthan gum, salt, natural flavouring (contains milk).

Glaze mixture: sugar, modified starch, salt, fat reduced cocoa powder, concentrate from safflower, natural flavouring.

6,6 % Caramel fat glaze chunks: palm fat, sugar, lactose, whole milk powder, wheat fibre, clarified butter fat, natural flavouring, emulsifier soya lecithins, caramel sugar, colour carotenes.
