Chocolate Cake

Chocolate cake is always worth the indulgence, isn’t it? Chocolate cake comes in all different shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common. They taste best when the dough is lovely and light and moist.

If you like chocolate cake, you’ll love ours. The dough is wonderfully light and moist. With the dark cocoa glaze, we guarantee you’ll be in chocolate heaven. This cake is wonderfully easy to make and will go down a treat with those who love a good chocolate cake.

What else you’ll need

  • 175 g soft margarine or butter
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 100 ml milk (1.5 % fat)
  • a little wheat flour for the baking tin

Preparation

Make the dough

  1. Preheat a conventional oven to 180 °C (fan approx. 160 °C).
  2. Put the baking mix, soft margarine or butter, eggs and milk in a mixing bowl and mix with an electric hand mixer (whisk) briefly on the lowest setting at first, then on the highest setting for around 3 minutes, until creamy.

Bake

  1. Then grease a loaf tin (25 cm) and dust it with flour. The dough can now be added to the tin and smoothed out.
  2. Bake the cake on the middle shelf of the preheated oven for around 60 minutes.
  3. After around 15 minutes’ baking time, make a cut around 1 cm deep lengthwise in the middle of the cake. Use a wooden skewer to check that the cake is ready before taking out of the oven.

Cool and glaze

  1. After baking, remove the cake from the tray and place on a wire rack to cool.
  2. Once the cake has cooled, the sachet of glaze can be placed in boiling hot water and soak for 10 – 15 minutes.
  3. Cut open the aluminium sachet and smooth the liquid glaze onto the cake with a knife.
