Classic Brownies

American-style brownies – we love these little chocolatey squares on this side of the pond, too. Dark-brown, gooey and super chocolatey. Their fudgy mouthfeel and delicious flavour make brownies a real hit among US exports.

But if you look online for a brownie recipe, you’ll practically find yourself throwing your hands up in despair. There are all kinds of recipes, all claiming to have the best tips. Which of course makes it tough to decide.

We have put together a great classic ‘American brownie’ recipe for you. You can’t go wrong with our version – simply mix the ingredients, pop in the oven and enjoy the results of what might be the world’s easiest brownie recipe!


What else you’ll need

  • 100 g butter
  • 1 medium egg
  • 125 ml (1/8 l) water


Prepare the baking tray

  1. Preheat a conventional oven to around 180 °C (fan approx. 160 °C) and fold the baking tray according to the instructions, bending the top of the edges outwards.

Make the dough

  1. Put the butter in a pan, melt and leave to cool a little. Put the baking mix, egg, liquid butter and water in a mixing bowl and blend with the electric hand mixer (whisk) briefly on the lowest setting at first, then on the highest setting for around 3 minutes, until creamy.
  2. Put the dough in the prepared baking tray and smooth out.


  1. Now you can sprinkle the chocolate shavings evenly over the mix and bake the brownie on the middle shelf of the preheated oven for around 25 minutes.
  2. Once baked, put the brownie on a wire rack, leave to cool, loosen the edges of the tray carefully using a knife and cut the bake into pieces.


baking mix: sugar, wheat flour, low fat cocoa powder (7,8 %), salt, flavouring.

grated chocolate (1,6 %): cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, emulsifier lecithins.
