Mini Black and White Cookies

Black and white cookies are a popular childhood favourite. This delicacy is known by a few different names:

  • the cookies have previously been known as ‘half-moons’ or ‘half-and-half cookies’. The cookies made their name in New York City,
  • but are said to have been created by Bavarian immigrants to the USA. In Germany, however, the tasty treats are known as ‘Amerikaner’ (Americans), for reasons which remain lost to history.
  • It’s thought that the biscuits made their way to Germany from the US in the 1950s, and the name may have been inspired by American GI soldiers.

No matter where the name actually comes from, we love black and white cookies! Whether for a birthday party or simply a tasty treat – our mini black and white cookies are the perfect snack for every occasion. The tasty black and white cookies with their duo of lemon and cocoa glazes take just a few steps to make and are a real delight for the tastebuds.

Für den Teig:
75g weiche Margarine oder Butter
1 Ei (Größe M)

Für die Glasur:
20 ml (ca. 2 EL) lauwarmes Wasser

Preparation

Teig zubereiten:
Die Backmischung, Margarine oder Butter und das Ei in eine Rührschüssel geben und mit einem elektrischen Handrührgerät erst auf niedrigster Stufe verrühren, dann auf höchster Stufe in ca. 3 Minuten cremig rühren.
Backen:
Mit Hilfe von 2 Esslöffeln 14 kreisförmige Teighäufchen (Ø 4-5 cm) auf ein mit Backpapier belegtes Backblech setzen. Den Miniamerikaner auf mittlerer Schiene im vorgeheizten Backofen backen.
Auskühlen und Dekorieren:
Nach dem Backen die Mini- Amerikaner ca. 10 Minuten abkühlen lassen und anschließend vom Backpapier lösen. Die Glasurmischung mit lauwarmem Wasser glatt rühren. Die flache Seite der noch warmen Mini-Amerikaner nach Belieben ganz oder zur Hälfte damit bestreichen und trocknen lassen. Den Glasurbeutel in kochend heißes Wasser legen und 10-15 Minuten ziehen lassen. Den Glasurbeutel aufschneiden und die Mini-Amerikaner mit der flüssigen Glasur garnieren.

Baking mixture: sugar, wheat flour, wheat starch, whole milk powder, baking powder (acid diphosphates, raising agent: sodium carbonates), flavouring, salt, thickening agent xanthan gum, emulsifier lecithins (soya).

glazing mix: sugar, lactose, modified starch, acid citric acid; natural flavouring.

13,8 % Cocoa containing fat glaze: sugar, vegetable fat (palm, cocos, shea), fat reduced cocoa powder (20%), lactose, emulsifier lecithins.
